Beneficio es una conocida comuna hippie situada en la region de La Alpujarra, cerca de Orgiva, en la provincia de Granada, Espana. La comunidad se establecio en la decada de 1980 y desde entonces ha sido un refugio para personas que buscan una vida alternativa y comunitaria.

Beneficio ha atraido a personas interesadas en una vida sostenible, el apoyo mutuo y una forma mas holistica de vivir. La comunidad suele practicar agricultura organica, energias alternativas y diversas formas de autosuficiencia. Tiene fama de ser abierta y acogedora con los visitantes, aunque es importante respetar sus valores y su forma de vida.

Teniendo en cuenta los acontecimientos recientes, pense que lo siguiente podia darnos a todos algo de esperanza. Visite Beneficio hace unas semanas:

"Increible. A primera vista el aparcamiento fue un choque cultural para mi, pero aunque estoy en contra de las drogas y soy un turista algo capitalista, vi Beneficio de forma muy diferente en mi segundo dia alli. En mi tercer dia ya hablaba de lo encantador que es el lugar y la gente, incluso en el aparcamiento. Y en el bosque todo era absolutamente social, pacifico y abierto de mente."

"Recuerdo que en la terraza de la panaderia hablaba de lo armonioso que es el lugar. Seria muy triste que siguieran adelante con el desalojo. Os deseo a todos lo mejor y que Beneficio siga viviendo."

Given the recent events, I thought the following might give all of us some hope. I visited Beneficio a few weeks ago:

"At first the parking area was a culture shock for me, but even though I am against drugs and a somewhat capitalistic tourist, I saw Beneficio very differently on my second day there. By the third day I was already talking about how charming the place and the people are, even on the parking area. And everything in the forest was absolutely social, peaceful and open-minded anyway."

"I remember talking on the bakery terrace about how harmonious the place is. It would be very sad if they go ahead with the eviction. I wish everyone there the best and hope Beneficio lives on."
